She's making a difference for herself, her community and generations to come. Teenagers in Minneapolis are at the front lines of a new era of racial change. This young woman has wasted no time getting down to business and organized a political activist group in her community that is getting lots of traction towards positive changes.
Her talents and passions are evident in the work she does and it was important to reflect that in her senior portrait story. We went to Lake and Lydale in Minneapolis where she had ended a 7 mile long march recently. There is beautiful art and uplifting messages on all the boarded up storefronts and she wants to remember her city this way.
During our session and she mentioned her father's support for her desire to make great changes. He has gone to protests with her and shared with her how it reminded him of protests he participated in Kenya to fight for democracy there. She's following in her father's footsteps and I'm so glad they humored me and let me take a picture of them together at the end of the session!
